There is rarely one perfect day
No single date is best for every gadget. Prices depend on the product's age, how many units are in stock, and whether a store is running a sale. What you can do is understand the main triggers for price drops and then decide how patient to be.
The main moments when prices fall
- Large festive sales. Major online stores run big sales around the festive season in the autumn months, and these usually feature phones, TVs, laptops and appliances. Read more on our Diwali sale, Great Indian Festival and Big Billion Days pages. Exact dates are announced by the stores each year.
- New model launches. When a new phone or laptop generation arrives, the previous model often becomes cheaper. If you do not need the latest features, the older model can be the better value.
- Year-end and Republic Day sales. Stores usually run sales around the end of the year and the end of January. See our Republic Day sale page.
- Black Friday period. Some stores run Black Friday style sales in late November. See Black Friday deals.
- Brand sale days. Brands sometimes run their own anniversary or flash sales on their official stores, as well as on marketplaces.
How to decide: buy now or wait
- If you need it now for work or study, buy at a fair price instead of waiting for a perfect one.
- If you can wait, set a price alert and watch for the next big sale.
- If a new model is rumoured, check whether the old one is already discounted before you decide.
- For items that wear out, such as chargers or cables, do not wait for a sale. Their savings are small.
Check these things for every electronics purchase
- Warranty. Make sure the warranty is from the brand and valid in India. Keep the invoice.
- Seller. Prefer official brand stores or the marketplace's own fulfilment for expensive items.
- Return window. Some categories have limited returns, and a few allow replacement only. Read it before you pay.
- Accessories. Confirm what is in the box. Some phones do not include a charger.
- Exchange. Exchange offers add value but depend on your old device's condition, so check the terms.
Avoid sale-day traps
During big sales the pressure to buy quickly is high. Prices on a few lead items can be genuinely good, but many listings simply keep their normal price. Make a shortlist before the sale starts, note the normal price of each item, and compare on the day. Keep an eye on delivery times too, because a low price on a product that arrives after you need it is not a saving.
Where our deals help
We publish price-checked offers on electronics, headphones and mobiles whenever we find a good one. Because stock changes, treat each one as a shortlist item and confirm the price on the store.
Frequently asked questions
Should I wait for Diwali to buy a phone?
If you can wait and the festive sale is close, it is usually worth checking the offers. If you need the phone urgently, buy at a fair price now.
Is an older model a good buy?
Often yes. Previous-generation models usually get cheaper after a launch and may still meet your needs. Check support and software updates before you buy.
Are festive sale prices always the lowest?
Not always. Many items hit their lowest price outside a sale, so check the price history for the exact product.
